Most Sharm El Sheikh hotels offer it through their own excursion desks, but booking online in advance secures better pricing, confirmed departure dates, and avoids last-minute unavailability during busy periods.

How the Tour Works

Resort hotel pickup (4:30–6:00 AM): The day starts early — unavoidably so. A transfer vehicle collects you from your Sharm El Sheikh hotel. Journey time to the airport varies by hotel location: the Na’ama Bay area is closest, Ras Um Sid and the southern hotels take slightly longer.

Transfer to Sharm El Sheikh Airport (20–40 minutes): Allow for variable journey time depending on your hotel’s position along the resort strip.

Flight to Cairo (approximately 50–60 minutes): A domestic flight from Sharm El Sheikh Airport to Cairo. Return flights are included in the tour price. The flight is slightly longer than from Hurghada due to the greater distance but is still well under an hour.

Transfer to Giza (approximately 45–60 minutes from Cairo Airport): A vehicle and guide meet you at Cairo Airport arrivals for the drive to the Giza Plateau. Cairo morning traffic is the main variable — allow extra time mentally on this leg.

Giza Plateau (approximately 2–2.5 hours): Your licensed guide leads you through the full monument complex: the Great Pyramid of Khufu, the Pyramid of Khafre (identifiable by its surviving limestone cap), the Pyramid of Menkaure, the Great Sphinx and its adjacent Valley Temple, and the panoramic desert viewpoint where all three pyramids align. Historical context — construction methods, Old Kingdom religious beliefs, and the individual pharaohs — is covered throughout. Photography time is built into most tours.

Lunch: A sit-down lunch at a local restaurant between the plateau and the museum. Typically Egyptian cuisine — bread, dips, grilled meats, salads. Vegetarian options are usually available on request.

Grand Egyptian Museum (approximately 1.5–2 hours): The tour moves to the GEM — the world’s largest archaeological museum, located adjacent to the Giza Plateau, housing the complete Tutankhamun collection (over 5,000 artefacts), the Great Atrium with its 83 colossal Ramesses II statues, and extensive galleries spanning Egypt’s history from prehistory through the Roman period. Some older tour versions visit the Egyptian Museum in central Cairo instead; the GEM is significantly more impressive and worth confirming before booking.

Return to Cairo Airport and flight to Sharm El Sheikh (approximately 50–60 minutes): An afternoon or early evening return flight, followed by a hotel transfer in Sharm El Sheikh.

Arrival back at hotel (approximately 8:00–10:00 PM): A long day — and consistently the highest-rated excursion sold in Sharm El Sheikh by a significant margin.

Sharm El Sheikh vs Hurghada: Key Differences

The structure of this day trip is essentially identical to the Hurghada flight version — early start, domestic flight, Giza Plateau, museum, return flight. The practical differences are modest but worth knowing:
